Calhoun County is in the process of mapping its trail systems

Calhoun County is making history as the first in West Virginia to map every back road in the county. The project aims to make trail riding safer and easier for Jeep, ATV, and off-road enthusiasts while helping them avoid trespassing. The maps will rate each trail’s difficulty and could eventually connect to maps from other counties. State Senator Mark Maynard says the goal is to let travelers plan trips across West Virginia using scenic back roads. The county is partnering with Glenville State University and the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center to help complete the project, which officials hope to launch next year.
