Two federal judges ruled Friday that the Trump administration must use SNAP’s contingency funds during the government shutdown. On Nov. 1, millions of Americans are expected to lose their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, with over 25 states filing a lawsuit to get the Trump administration to use contingency funds to keep the federal program funded through November.The funds will cover around $6 billion, with SNAP costing around $8 billion per month. Many states have announced ways to make sure some benefits are loaded onto the debit cards SNAP recipients use before the Nov. 1 deadline.
