The West Virginia Democratic Party is mourning the loss of former Delegate Marge Burke, who passed away last Saturday.
WVDP Chair Mike Pushkin called Burke a trailblazer for women in politics and praised her decades of public service.
Burke served in the House of Delegates from 1978 to 1996, becoming the first chair of the Women’s Legislative Caucus and later Majority Whip.
She championed child support reform and supported rural youth through 4-H, FFA, and other programs.
