Kanawha Circuit court hears case

After hearing close to an hour of arguments on Friday in the case attempting to stop the West Virginia National Guard’s mission in Washington D.C., Kanawha County Circuit Court Judge Richard Lindsay said he wants to hear more in November at a continued hearing. Lindsay said he wants the focus of that to address specifically whether or not Gov. Patrick Morrisey’s deployment of troops is within his authority as governor. More than 300 West Virginia National Guard members have spent the past two months patrolling the streets of Washington D.C. in response to President Trump’s request for help to cut down on crime and homelessness. Morrisey announced in late August that he would be deploying the Guard at Trump’s request.
