Monday shooting in the East End is under investigation

Charleston Police are still looking for suspects after a shootout early Monday morning in the city’s East End. Officers say gunfire erupted around 3:45 near East Washington and Veazy Streets, with bullets striking a parked car that someone may have tried to use for cover. Investigators recovered shell casings from two different caliber weapons.

About ten minutes later, an 18-year-old man from Cross Lanes showed up at CAMC Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound. He’s been treated and released but has refused to cooperate with detectives. Police are also searching for an SUV seen leaving the area shortly after the shooting.
