New cyber security facility is planned in Huntington

A bid has been awarded for the construction of a $45 million cyber security facility at Marshall University. Neighborgall Construction will build a 72,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art institute on campus for cyber research and training, according to a news release from the university. The structure will feature 13 laboratories and serve as a gateway to the I.D.E.A. District (Impossible Doesn’t Exist Anymore), bordered by the Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation. Eyewitness News said the construction funding was made available by state lawmakers, who set aside state and federal dollars for the project. University officials said construction will begin immediately along Hal Greer Boulevard opposite of Old Main.
