Old elementary school is repurposed to hold games and events

The old Milton Elementary School is getting new life as a community recreation center. After closing last December, the building now hosts local kids for basketball, parties, and events. City leaders say it’s become a safe, active space, drawing 15 to 20 kids each night. Milton City Manager Mike Ramsey says repurposing the school, which dates back to the 1960s, prevents vandalism and keeps the building from falling into disrepair. It’s also home to Mountain Roots Community Theatre, which has been searching for a permanent venue.
