Body is identified after being discovered by kayakers

Kenova Police say a body recovered from the Big Sandy River Saturday has been identified as 42-year-old Mompida Hay of Ashland. Investigators believe Hay jumped from the I-64 bridge on October 27. Despite extensive searches that night, crews from three counties were unable to find her. Two kayakers spotted the body Saturday afternoon, about a mile downstream from the bridge. The Medical Examiner’s Office is handling the investigation.
