City of Charleston begins fall leaf collection

Charleston’s Public Works Department began its Supplemental Loose Leaf Collection on Monday, November 3.

Residents have two options: bag leaves for weekly curbside pickup on regular trash days, or rake loose leaves to the street edge for the supplemental collection.
Loose leaf pickup happens once or twice a season depending on weather and volume. Crews pause the service during snow events since the same trucks are used for snow removal.

Collection days are:

Mon–Tues: Kanawha City;

Wed–Thurs: South Hills

; Fri–Sat: West Side, North Charleston, and East End.

Bagging leaves ensures weekly collection regardless of weather.
