Hope Gas reduces its proposed rate increase request

A partial settlement has been filed in Hope Gas’s proposed rate increase case before the West Virginia Public Service Commission. The company originally sought a $79.6 million hike but is now requesting a $41.2 million increase — about 21 percent more in base rate revenues.

If approved, the new rates would take effect February 25th, 2026. Earlier this week, dozens of West Virginians spoke out against the higher rates.

Hope Gas says it understands the impact but stresses the increase is needed to maintain safe, reliable service and invest in the state’s energy infrastructure.
