Hurricane man arrested for attacking 2 city workers

A Hurricane man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a pair of city workers said the city’s mayor. Ashton James McCallister, 26, has been charged with two counts of battery, as well as obstruction and fleeing on foot, according to Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards. Edwards said McCallister allegedly attacked two city workers, punching both in the face. He allegedly punched one and the other came to assist but was punched as well. The mayor said the city worker who came in to assist ended up with his nose broken in two places. Edwards did not reveal whether or not the city worker who was attacked first suffered injuries. The motive behind McCallister’s attack is currently unclear. He is currently being held in the Western Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond.
