Two people are rescued from a fire on the West Side

Charleston firefighters said they were able to contain a large fire at an abandoned storage facility early Monday morning on Charleston’s West Side. Our partners at Eyewitness News said the fire was reported just before 4 a.m. at Virginia Street and Seventh Avenue. Two people were rescued from third-story windows and taken to a local hospital. Firefighters said the building is now structurally unsound, and will have to be demolished. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
