Longtime West Virginia Senator Larry Edgell has died according to a news release from the West Virginia Democratic Party. Edgell, represented the 2nd Senatorial District from 1998 to 2014. In 2013, Edgell was appointed President Pro Tempore of the Senate. Prior to his time as a lawmaker and educator, he served in the U.S. Navy. A devoted public servant, educator, veteran and lifelong advocate for West Virginia’s children and communities, Edgell was widely respected for his steady leadership, integrity and commitment to public education.
