Mountaineer Gas rates to increase next year

Customers of Mountaineer Gas will see a small increase in their bills following approval of a pipeline replacement plan.

The West Virginia Public Service Commission has approved the company’s 2026 Infrastructure Replacement Program. Beginning January first, the average customer bill will rise by about one dollar and fifty-five cents.

The PSC says Mountaineer Gas requested the increase to accelerate the replacement of aging pipes and infrastructure. The approval provides an additional five-point-two million dollars for upgrades.

Regulators say the plan was approved despite several public protests, and future filings will require more detailed reporting on pipe replacements and past outage-related reimbursements.
