A popular Charleston thrift store is getting ready for a major makeover. The Goodwill on Virginia Street is closing temporarily as it transforms into West Virginia’s second outlet, or “bins” store.
When it reopens, shoppers won’t see racks or price tags. Instead, they’ll dig through large bins, paying by the pound for whatever they find. Goodwill’s Jamon Schmidt says the outlet model gives unsold items from regular stores a second chance at a lower price.
The renovated outlet is expected to open sometime in 2026. Donation procedures will stay the same.
