Opioid Settlement funds to help many local organizations

Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin announced $540,000 in Opioid Settlement Grants awarded to 14 local organizations. The grants, administered with the United Way of Central West Virginia and guided by the Opioid Community Council, fund evidence-based treatment, prevention, and recovery programs across the city.

Recipients include health centers, recovery homes, and youth programs, supporting services like medical care, legal guidance, transportation, mentoring, and overdose prevention. Mayor Goodwin says the funding strengthens prevention efforts, expands access to treatment, and helps families affected by opioid use.

The Opioid Community Council will monitor the programs to ensure accountability and lasting impact for Charleston residents.
