11 year old dies from malnutrition just weeks after CPS visit

Just weeks before an 11-year-old girl was found unresponsive on a kitchen floor – wearing a pull-up diaper and severely malnourished – Child Protective Services visited her home and took no action, according to the prosecuting attorney now leading a murder case tied to her death. Miana Moran, a sixth-grade student enrolled in virtual schooling through Upshur County Schools, weighed 43 pounds at her autopsy, according to a criminal complaint filed in Taylor County Magistrate Court. Her measurements were “grossly inconsistent with her chronological age,” Taylor County Deputy Chris MacQueen wrote in the court document, Moran’s custodian, Shannon Robinson, 51, is charged with her murder. She was indicted Tuesday on charges of murder of a child by a parent, guardian or custodian by refusal or failure to provide necessities, and child neglect resulting in death and pleaded not guilty during an arraignment
