Gov Morrisey wants more tax cuts

Gov. Patrick Morrisey’s State of the State Address provided understanding on tax reform proposals at the top of a long list of cuts the governor wants to implement. West Virginia already has a personal income tax cut system that relies on economic indicators to start the next step down. Numbers are not looking good enough for that to happen. Morrisey wants a 10% cut, but his budget proposal that lawmakers recently received now calls for 5%. Some Legislators expressed concern for future budgetary shortfalls. The state currently runs a $128 million dollar surplus.
