A juvenile was found in possession of a handgun at a St. Albans middle school. The incident was reported Wednesday at the end of the school day at Hayes Middle School. According to St. Albans Police, the student was found with the handgun on a school bus. A Kanawha County Schools employee on the bus secured the firearm and turned it over to school officials. Police responded to the scene, spoke with those involved, and released the juvenile to a guardian. Extra officers will remain at the school for the rest of the week. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are being released due to the student’s age.
