A Kanawha County man accused of killing two people, including a child, has been granted a third change of legal counsel.
Nicholas Hanshaw is charged with fatally stabbing 10-year-old Richie Hancock and 62-year-old Sherry Russell at a Charleston home in December 2023. He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
In court Tuesday, Judge Tera Salango approved the request, replacing attorney Mark Plants with John Belinovich, but warned it would be Hanshaw’s final change.
Prosecutors say Hanshaw later walked into a car dealership, telling employees he’d killed two people. Police later found the victims dead on Dorchester Road.
