Nitro woman faces wire fraud charges

A former West Virginia Division of Labor employee has pleaded guilty to wire fraud after prosecutors say she used state credit cards for personal expenses. Kelli Rucker, also known as Kelli Engler, of Nitro admitted to making more than $18,000 in unauthorized purchases using three state-issued purchasing cards while working as an administrative services manager. Federal prosecutors say the misuse happened between 2022 and February 2023 and included payments for utility bills, hospital expenses, and cable television. Rucker also admitted to a single charge of more than $2,200 made in January 2023. She has a prior criminal history and now faces up to 20 years in prison, restitution, and sentencing scheduled for May 19.
