Significant snow and ice expected this weekend

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect across the region from Saturday morning through Monday morning, with the National Weather Service warning of significant travel impacts, especially Saturday night into Sunday. Forecast models show the potential for a “warm wedge” in central and southern West Virginia and Kentucky, which could cause snow Saturday afternoon to transition to sleet, freezing rain, or rain overnight. This makes predicting snow totals challenging and raises the possibility of both snow and ice accumulation in some areas.
