Childcare system is a focus for state lawmakers this session

The West Virginia State Capitol brought together families and childcare leaders this week to highlight ongoing challenges with cost and access. Parents say affordability is the biggest issue, followed by long waitlists and childcare center closures across the Tri-State. Program leaders used the event to urge lawmakers to address funding gaps, saying current subsidies don’t reflect the true cost of care. Advocates also called for higher income limits so more families can qualify for assistance.
