City of Charleston plans an urban fishing event to encourage residents to try the sport

An urban fishing event will take place in Charleston March 7–8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Charleston Community Center. The event gives families and young people a chance to enjoy fishing in a convenient neighborhood setting, according to a city news release.

The event aims to introduce participants to fishing through hands-on experience. Those planning to keep their catch should bring their own fishing pole, bait, net and bucket.

Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

City officials said the urban fishing event is part of Charleston Parks and Recreation’s ongoing efforts to offer engaging, accessible recreational activities that connect residents with the outdoors.
