discussion on adding a line that says Gov needs to be born in state

A resolution introduced Thursday would add an amendment to the state Constitution requiring anyone elected governor be born in West Virginia.Senate Joint Resolution 19, as it was introduced by Republican Sen. Rupie Phillips, would add a line to the state Constitution establishing the requirement. The measure would also require approval from voters before being enforced.
Phillips told WCHS on Thursday that he intends to amend the proposed resolution to make the requirement that candidates live in the state for 30 years instead of being born there after hearing feedback from some constituents. That amendment, however, has not yet been made.
