Eleven-year-old girl’s death triggers investigation into CPS’ handling of the case

The father of an 11-year-old girl prosecutors say was neglected and starved as punishment made his first court appearance this week.

Aaron Moran of Grafton, was arraigned Monday on charges including murder of a child by failure to provide necessities and child neglect resulting in death.

His daughter, Miana Moran, died February 16 after being found unresponsive, severely malnourished, and weighing just 43 pounds.

A judge entered a not guilty plea on Moran’s behalf and denied bond, citing the seriousness of the case.

The child’s death has also triggered an internal investigation into prior CPS involvement.
