Mingo County water customers without service briefly after a tank line is damaged

Some residents in Mingo County were still without water on Monday after a tank line was damaged Friday.

Service Director Chris Varney said debris near an old bridge between Lenore and Naugatuck diverted water, eroding the creek bank and pulling out a main line from the plant. Without it, water couldn’t move through the system. While the repair itself was simple, crews struggled to reach the site due to high water and had to use heavy equipment to access the line.

The plant operates near its 2-million-gallon daily capacity, so restoring service takes time as tanks refill in sequence. Full service was expected by the end of Monday.
