Williamson food bank to receive federal funds for upgrades

The Facing Hunger Foodbank facility in Williamson is set to receive significant upgrades.

U.S. Senator Jim Justice presented the organization with a check for more than $1 million Wednesday at its main food bank in Huntington.

The funding comes from the latest federal appropriations package and will go toward establishing a new food distribution center in Mingo County, aimed at improving access to food in the rural region.

While at the Huntington facility, Justice toured the building and met with staff and volunteers to learn more about the food bank’s operations and community impact.
