An early spring is allowing crews to get to work on road repairs

Warm weather is allowing some asphalt plants across West Virginia to open earlier than usual.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation says this will allow crews with the West Virginia Division of Highways and its contractors to begin patching potholes sooner than expected.

Plants typically reopen in April, but several serving the Charleston-Huntington area are already operating.

Crews got started on pothole repairs Tuesday along Interstate 64 westbound between Dunbar and Institute.
