More than 1,700 new businesses were registered in West Virginia in February, according to Secretary of State Kris Warner. That total includes 96 non-profits and 175 businesses that qualified for fee waiver programs.
Berkeley County led the state with 134 new registrations, followed by Kanawha and Monongalia counties. Fee waivers included the Boots to Business program for veterans and military spouses, and the Young Entrepreneur program for West Virginians under 30.
Warner says that over the past year, nearly 19,400 new businesses were registered, bringing the state’s total to more than 166,000 active businesses.
