Jackson County teen faces a felony charge for firing shots toward homes

A social media video from Jackson County has triggered a police investigation after a 17-year-old was seen drinking, driving and firing a handgun toward homes along Sandyville’s Route 21 Friday night.

Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department identified the teen driver, who told investigators the gun belonged to a family member. Another juvenile was also in the car.

Sheriff Ross Mellinger said the handgun has been returned to its owner, and the case will move to juvenile court. Deputies say the teen now faces a felony wanton endangerment charge.
