Logan County man is accused of sexually abusing a minor

A Logan County man is behind bars after troopers say he sexually assaulted a minor over several years.

According to the West Virginia State Police, 44-year-old Daniel Scaggs, of Logan, is charged with first-degree sexual assault. Troopers say they received a referral from Child Protective Services earlier this month regarding an incident in the Ethel area. Their investigation allegedly revealed abuse spanning three years.

When officers arrived at his home , Scaggs reportedly fled into nearby woods but was quickly captured without incident. He’s also charged with obstruction and fleeing and is being held at Southwestern Regional Jail on bond.
