Officials in Madison are looking to build on recent growth along Main Street, where new additions like the Market on Main have opened over the past year.
City Councilman Victor Farmer says the city wants to improve lighting and help property owners update storefronts to make downtown more attractive and draw more visitors. Eyewitness News said
City leaders are also in the early planning stages of a streetscape and trail project. The proposal includes developing about 250 acres of donated land behind the courthouse into outdoor recreation space with hiking, biking and possibly horse trails.
