Two people were injured early Sunday morning after warning shots were fired during a dispute in Charleston, police said.
The incident happened around 1:10 a.m. in the 300 block of Elizabeth Street following an altercation involving several people, according to the Charleston Police Department.
Police say two warning shots were fired into the ground, and two people were hurt by shrapnel or bullet ricochet. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The suspected shooter remained at the scene and told officers the shots were fired in self-defense.
The Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case to determine whether any charges will be filed.
