Students and families in the Kanawha County Schools district now have a tentative last day for the school year.
School officials announced Monday that the West Virginia Department of Education approved a waiver for the state’s 180-day instructional requirement. Because of that waiver, the tentative final day of school is set for Friday, May 29.
The waiver means the district will not have to make up snow days that occurred between August 15, 2025, and March 16, 2026. Any additional districtwide closures between now and the end of the school year could still change that date.
