Two Mingo County residents are facing charges after deputies say two young children were left alone in a vehicle while the adults were inside a bar.
According to complaints filed in court, 29-year-old Lori Allison Messer and 63-year-old David Wayne Compton, both of Kermit, are charged with child neglect creating risk of injury.
Deputies responded to the G&V Club in Williamson after reports that children had been left in a running SUV in the parking lot. Investigators say Messer admitted leaving the children in the vehicle and said Compton was supposed to check on them. However, deputies say surveillance video shows the children were alone for nearly an hour before officers arrived.
