West Virginia University has named its newest Mountaineer mascot. Reese Allen, a senior from Bridgeport majoring in mechanical engineering and data science, will serve as the university’s 72nd Mountaineer for the 2026–2027 school year.
Allen is a Bucklew and Eberly Scholar, active in the Honors College, serves as a Presidential Student Ambassador, founded the Microgravity Research Club and has logged more than 150 service hours at The Rack student food pantry. He’ll officially take over from Cade Kincaid during the April 17 “Passing of the Rifle” ceremony.
