Tabit was most recently serving as judge in West Virginia’s Thirteenth Circuit Court, which covers Kanawha County. She was appointed to court in 2014 by then-Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and won election in 2016. Chief Justice Beth Walker said in a statement that Tabit had a generous spirit and mentored many younger lawyers. The West Virginia Democratic Party also issued a statement on Tabit’s passing, calling her a revered and beloved member of the legal community. Sen.
