Juneteenth Celebration is Planned in Charleston

The Juneteenth Celebration celebrates the ending of slavery, and will be observed with special performances at Charleston Municipal Auditorium. Organizers have performances planned the evening of June 18th and tickets go on sale to the general public Friday.

Williamson Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges

A Williamson man faces a string of charges after police say he fired multiple shots, including at officers, in a neighborhood Wednesday morning. “Charleston Roots” receives more than 60 appications

The “Charleston Roots” program is reviewing more than sixty applications from people in eighteen states that want to come back home to Charleston and work remotely. The initiative includes five-thousand-dollars, mentorship and networking opportunities, and local lifestyle experiences and memberships.

Elementary school students trying to break world record

Students at Ashton Elementary school are trying to break a world record by collecting eight-thousand new stuffed animals. They’ll donate them to kids in hospitals and to police officers who work with children. If you’d like to help, the school is accepting donations until November.

Bond denied for WV man in connection to Jan. 6 riots

A federal judge is denying a bond request from West Virginia sandwich shop owner George Tanios in connection to the January 6th riots at the U.S. Capitol. He’s accused of assaulting three officers with pepper spray. He could face up to 20 years in prison.

Report critical of Clarksburg VA’s procedures

A new report by the Office of Inspector General for Veterans Affairs says that May bears ultimate responsibility for the murders, but the VA missed opportunities at several junctures that might have allowed for earlier detection of her actions, or averted them all together.

VA serial killer sentenced to 7 life terms

Judge Thomas Kleeh called Reta Mays a monster, and sentenced her to seven consecutive life sentences, plus an additional 20 years. Mays is a former nursing assistant who admitted giving fatal insulin injections to seven vets at the Clarksburg VA Medical Center.

Truck stolen off dealer’s lot

Police are looking for a suspect who stole a pickup off the dealer’s lot in Nitro. They got away with a 2016 dark gray Dodge Ram 1500. The stolen truck has dealer tags and is lifted with black rims. Contact State Police if you have any information.

WVU student dies in fall

Morgantown police are investigating after a WVU student died from a fall. He was found on the sidewalk near an off-campus apartment complex on Baird Street. There is no indication of foul play.
