News Staff A man wanted in a Pike County shooting is under arrest. Patrick Jackson evaded deputies for most of the day on Monday before being taken into custody at a home in Cynthiana. He’s accused of shooting a man on Greenridge Road. The victim is in serious condition.
Nearly one-hundred people are under arrest in an operation targeting violent gang crime. The U.S. Marshals Service and local law enforcement agencies conducted a month long operation and arrested five gang members, three people accused of murder, and found three missing children from California.

The founder of Murray Energy, Bob Murray, died over the weekend. His death comes just days after announcing his retirement as chairman of the board of directors. He recently filed for black lung benefits, saying he was heavily dependent on oxygen and “near death.” Murray was 80-years-old.
More than two-hundred-thousand votes have been cast in West Virginia. The Secretary of State’s Office says over 75-percent of absentee ballots have been returned, and early in-person voting has drawn over 96-thousand people.
