A woman is dead after being hit by her own car in Nitro. Investigators think the 96-year-old woman tried to get out of her vehicle without putting it in park, running her over. It happened on 3rd Avenue.

A fire on Beauty Mountain in the New River Gorge is fifty-percent contained. Conditions are improving with a few smoky areas and less fire activity. The National Park Service estimates over 130-acres are involved. The fire has been burning for several days. The Endless Wall Trail has reopened, but the climbing access ladders remain closed.
