Man arrested for firing shots into home

A Clay County man is under arrest for firing shots into a home on Kanawha Avenue. Thirty-two-year-old George Barnes got into a fight when he tried to force his way inside. After the scuffle he walked outside and fire three shots into the house. No one was hurt. Barnes is charged with wanton endangerment.

Navy nuclear engineer arrested in WV on espionage charges

A Navy engineer and his wife are under arrest in Jefferson County. They’re accused of selling military secrets to an undercover FBI agent posing as a foreign operative. Jonathan Toebbe and his Wife Diana sold restricted information regarding nuclear powered warships to a person they believed was a representative of a foreign power.

100,000 Kanawha County residents vaccinated against COVID-19

Kanawha County health officials are celebrating a milestone with 100-thousand resident fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Active cases are declining with less than nine-hundred active cases in the county. Testing and vaccinations will continue Monday through Friday at the health department on Lee Street.

City of Charleston swears in new firefighters

The City of Charleston has eleven new firefighters. The recruits took the firefighter’s oath at a graduation ceremony Friday at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. They will start their first shifts on Sunday.

Fatal house fire under investigation

The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating after a 44-year-old woman died in a fire at her Jefferson home. A man who lived in the home was able to escape. Investigators are trying to find out how the fire started.

Fire damages Cross Lanes body shop

A half-dozen fire departments responded to a fire at a body shop in Cross Lanes. The owner walked into the garage and saw flames coming from the engine compartment of a car inside. The building sustained extensive damage. Firefighters were able to save part of the building. No one was hurt.
