5th $1 million winner in “Do it for Babydog” sweepstakes

A Morgantown nurse is the fifth one-million-dollar winner in the “Do it for Babydog” vaccination sweepstakes. Governor Justice and Babydog were on hand to award the ceremonial check to Denise Morrison at J.W Ruby Memorial Hospital. The governor also handed out the keys to two new custom pickups, and two more full-ride college scholarships.

The IRS has filed a more than eight-million-dollar lien against Jill Justice, the governor’s daughter and president of the Greenbrier resort. Most of the unpaid taxes date back to 2009. That’s when the Justice family purchased the resort out of bankruptcy.

Fire breaks out at Hobet Mine site

The main office building at the Hobet Mine site in Boone County caught fire. When firefighters arrived there was thick black smoke coming from the roof. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Looters were found on the property and told to leave shortly before the fire started. No one was hurt.

Coal tipple catches fire

Crews were in the process of demolishing an inactive coal tipple when it caught fire along Route 44 in Stirrat. Investigators believe it was sparked by slag from a cutting torch. No one was hurt.
