Charleston City Council passes CROWN Act

Charleston City Council passed an anti-discrimination measure called the Crown Act. The resolution protects hair styles, commonly associated with race, likes braids and twists. The ACLU says women of color regularly find their hair policed by dress codes in schools, at work, and during sports.

Chandelier returns to Capitol rotunda

Work is underway to reinstall the rotunda chandelier at the West Virginia State Capitol. The huge light fixture was dismantled three years ago before work started on the Capitol dome, and was sent to New Hampshire for a complete renovation. It will take a couple of weeks to reinstall.

West Virginia Legislature convenes in Special Session
