DEP Secretary stepping down

Secretary of the state Department of Environmental Protection, Austin Caperton, is stepping down. He says he want to move on and focus on projects outside of government. Caperton’s departure is effective on January 18th at the end of Governor Justice’s first term in office.

WV COVID-19 death toll now over 1,000

A grizzly milestone in the pandemic…West Virginia’s COVID-19 death toll is now over one-thousand. Thirty-four more deaths were reported in the last 24-hours, setting a single-day record. For the fourth day in a row, there are more than one-thousand new cases of the virus, and the number of hospitalizations is close to eight-hundred.

WV hubs distributing vaccine

Three more West Virginia hubs will receive the COVD-19 vaccine today. All five hubs will be able to distribute the vaccine to health care workers and nursing homes by the end of the day.

CAMC adminsters first doses of COVID-19 vaccine

Charleston received one thousand doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and CAMC administered its first fifty doses to it’s hospital staff. ER Doctor Adam Crawford was the first to get it, and he says it was less painful than the flu shot.

Woman struck by train recovering

A woman is recovering at CAMC General after she was hit by a train. Twenty-eight-year-old Shayla Stephenson was struck by a Kanawha River Railroad Train at the intersection of Crescent Road and Buchanan Street. Charleston Police are investigating.
