Big 12 decision expected

The Big-12 conference in on the clock, and the 2020 football season hangs in the balance. There are multiple reports that the Big-12, for now, is planning to play football. Both the Big-10 and Pac-12 conferences are cancelling all fall sports.

Fayette County Delegate Staggers tests positve for COVID-19

Fayette County Delegate Margaret Staggers, who is an emergency room doctor, has tested positive for COVID-19. She attended a meeting last month where a member of the House Clerk’s staff tested positive a few days later, but there’s no reason to believe that is where Staggers became infected.

Six more West Virginians die from COVID-19

There are over 120 new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, and six more people have died. One-hundred-thirty patients are in the hospital with the virus, and almost fifty are in ICU. The daily infection rate is close to two-and-a-half-percent.

Parents split on sending kids back to school

The Kanawha County School District says parents are split on sending kids back to school this fall. The deadline was yesterday to select an in-person mode, or an on-line model. There are more in-person students, but just less than half opted for e-learning. The first day of class is September 8th.

Gas station robbed at gunpoint

Huntington police are investigating an armed robbery at the Shell Station on 8th Avenue. A man with a gun demanded money from the register, and ran from the scene with cash.

Man arrested for threatening judge

A Massachusetts man is under arrest for threatening a Kanawha County judge. Forty-year-old Keith Lessard is accused of mailing threatening letter to the judge in a scheme to extort money.

Former Marshall student on trial for rape

The trail of a former Marshall student, accused of raping two students, will continue today in Cabell County. Twenty-two-year-old Joseph Hardin is charged with sexual assault against two women in 2018. The jury heard open arguments yesterday.

Vape pen & hand sanitizer cause car fire

A vape pen and bottle of hand sanitizer caused a car fire in nitro. The vape pen overheated and burst into flames and a nearby bottle of hand sanitizer help spread the fire. It melted the center console and filled the car with smoke. No one was hurt.
