Deadly officer-involved shooting in Raleigh County

A man is dead after an officer involved shooting in Raleigh County. Sheriff’s deputies tried to serve a domestic violence protective order in Shady Spring when a man pointed a shotgun at them. A deputy fired and hit the man when he turned the gun on himself.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is looking for men and women interested in becoming deputies. Case Numbers Continue to Improve

Active cases in the state continue to decline, dropping 801 between Monday and Tuesday. The total number of active cases in the state is 14,756. As for vaccines, health officials report 108,870 people are fully vaccinated. West Virginia has administered over 221,000 first doses. At least 108,000 West Virginians have recovered from the virus.

Hundreds of cats found at Delbarton home

A Delbarton woman is facing animal cruelty charges. Authorities found nearly three-hundred cats on the property. Several were dead, some were in cages, and others were loose. Pitiful Paws Rescue is taking care of the cats.

Judge will rule on conflict of interest in Joshua Phillips case

A Kanawha County judge will rule by mid-week if there’s a conflict of interest with attorney’s representing Joshua Phillips. He’s accused of killing officer Cassie Johnson in December. The Kanawha County Public Defender’s Office, which represents Phillips, previously represented another man charged in connection to the case.
