WVU ran out of magic in Oklahoma City Friday in the Big-12 Conference Baseball Championship. After a 12-2 seven-inning loss to number four-seed Oklahoma State moved West Virginia to the loser’s bracket, the Mountaineers lost to top seed Texas 3-to-2.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting less than five-thousand active cases of COVID-19 for the first time since last October. More than 240 new cases were reported on Friday, and no new deaths. Almost 58-percent of West Virginians twelve and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Two people died in a plane crash in Scioto County. The small plane stuck a hillside in a wooded area near Sheep Ranch Hollow Road, about ten miles north of Portsmouth. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
Police are investigating after a man was shot in the arm in an alley off 7th Avenue. His injuries are not life threatening. The victim got into a fight with another man when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots. No arrests have been made.
