No fans in the stands for WVU home opener

There will be no fans in the stands at Milan Puskar Stadium when WVU opens its football season against Eastern Kentucky on September 12th. WVU has five home games on the schedule and officials say they’ll decide on those games based on conditions at the time.

Spike in COVID-19 cases blamed on travel

There are more than 180 new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia. That’s the highest number since the end of July. The spike in cases is being blamed on late summer vacations and students returning to college. Another person has died from the virus in Kanawha County.

Capito is confident that the Post Office can deliver

Senator Shelley Moore Capito says she’s confident the postal system can deliver ballots on time and safely on Election Day, and Congressman Alex Mooney says the concern is being overblown. Postmaster Louis DeJoy will testify in the Senate today about cost cutting measures that have led to claims of widespread mail delays.

There’s a new millionaire in West Virginia. A winning Lotto America ticket, worth over four-million-dollars, was sold at the Tobacco Barn in Milton. The ticket matches all six numbers from Wednesday’s drawing.

Bransfield makes public apology

Disgraced Bishop Michael Bransfield is making a public apology. He’s accused of financial misconduct and sexual harassment, and was required to make an apology as part of a “plan of amends.” Bransfield stepped down in 2018.

Kanawha County School Board outling COVID-19 expectations

The Kanawha County School Board is outlining COVID-19 expectations ahead of the school year. Students, staff, and faculty are being encouraged not travel before the start of school, and wearing masks will be mandatory. One staff member has already been suspended for refusing to wear a mask.

First case of MIS-C diagnosed in WV

A West Virginia child has been diagnosed with Multisystem inflammatory Syndrome in Children, or MIS-C. It’s the first case reported in the state, and is a serious health condition found in children that appears to be associated with COVID-19.
