U.S. Rep. Carol Miller won the Republican nomination in West Virginia’s 3rd District. She was the only Republican female elected alongside a number of female Democrats to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018.

WVSU makes changes to fall semester

West Virginia State University will hold in-person classes when the fall semester begins August 10th. The semester will end November 20th before Thanksgiving break, and fall commencement will be held on November 21st.

BOE to discuss graduation ceremonies

The Kanawha County Board of Education will hold a special meeting Wednesday to discuss options for high school graduation ceremonies. There was a backlash from parents and students last week when the board canceled plans to hold a combined ceremony for all eight high schools.

Outdoor concerts allowed when fairs and festivals resume

Governor Justice is announcing more reopenings. Summer youth camps can return on June 22nd, and outdoor concerts will be allowed at fairs and festivals when they are allowed to resume July 1st. Justice hinted that there might be a revision in nursing home visitation soon.

Kanawha County has shortage of poll workers

Kanawha County officials are scrambling to find poll workers. About fifty workers dropped out at the last minute. Some are concerned about the coronavirus. There has been a rule change because of the virus to allow as few as three poll workers in a precinct instead of five.
